OUR PROCESS

The design process can vary depending on the scope and size of the project but is
typically comprised of the following steps:

PROGRAMMING | intake + analysis
Programming is typically done in our initial consultation and first few meetings. We will explore your goals, gather + analyze facts, specify your needs, and present the solutions. This is also where we discuss your budget and project timeline.

SCHEMATIC DESIGN | concepts + space planning
Our favourite! Drafting and space planning is one of the most crucial fundamentals of interior design. Upon receipt of the approved Scope of Work and retainer, we begin to combine info from the programming phase to create a functional, efficient and seamless layout. We will also provide preliminary finishes for review so you get a sense of everything coming together.
(So exciting!)

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT |  specifications + details
After approval of the layout, we will begin to specify each room, floor to ceiling, with finishes, hardware and custom millwork. This includes all of the corresponding drawings, elevations and details. It is the interior designer's duty to
properly outline the design intent to the GC and trades.

CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
| drawings + responsibilities
Contract documents define the roles and responsibilities of the designer and the trades. These may include construction plans, ceiling plans, power + data, elevations, sections + details, doors, finish, + millwork schedules, and complete finish, plumbing, lighting + equipment specifications. These documents are vital to the success of any project, large or small.

TENDER | pricing + permit
Invitation - If the client doesn't already have a contractor hired or in mind for the project and wants to
explore a few options, we would submit the contract documents to a few contractors, arrange site visits,
communicate, review + analyze, award the project and finally, prepare any cost cuts (if required).
Proprietary - in this case, the client has a contractor already chosen.
We would then follow the same steps as above but only with one contractor.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATION | manage + execute
You'd be surprised how often the interior design consultant is contacted during the construction process. Issues and changes often crop up and need to be addressed.
We work closely with our clients + trades to ensure proper execution of the project.
We are available every step of the way to provide answers and solutions, including site visits and peace of mind.
